Sample these super science resources, including activities, games, free posters and worksheets ranging from plastics to plant identification, to inspire the next generation of scientists!

Ages 4 - 6

  • In this Farm Animal Senses lesson produced by the RSPCA, pupils will label the external parts of five animals farmed in the UK - cattle, sheep, pigs, hens and ducks. They will consider how people and farm animals use their senses.
  • Create a cosy home using this Small Bug Home resource by the Royal Horticultural Society for friendly ladybirds and bugs to place on your balcony or in your garden.
  • Use this Animal Seed Dispersal Game developed by Learning Through Landscapes to adopt a playful approach to understanding how some trees use animals to disperse their seeds.

Ages 7 - 11

  • Download this free Science on the Farm poster produced by LEAF in partnership with BBSRC (Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council).A booklet for teachers accompanies the posters.
  • This Plastics for Primary resource is one of five topics available in the Global Farming series for primary school aged children produced by LEAF Education. The activities explore its uses and the problems caused by plastic waste and look more closely at the use of plastic on a dairy farm and conduct an investigation to find the most environmentally friendly plastic milk bottle.
  • Try this 6 Week STEM Club resource pack designed to provide content to support teachers in the delivery of a 6 week STEM club. All activities link to different aspects of the Farm at Tatton Park and are designed to cover a variety of themes and topics.

Ages 11 - 16

  • Have a perusal through this Plastics in the Horticulture Industry resource developed by the Environment Agency, this is the first part of a series of three looking at sources and impacts of plastic pollution as well as possible solutions and good waste management practice. Each lesson contains a Powerpoint with activities included.
  • Checkout the latest Conscience Consumer resource developed by the Food & Farming Discovery Trust and LEAF Education which has brilliant activities that explore topical issues that span boundaries of agriculture, food, health and society which link closely to Geography, Science, and Food Preparation & Nutrition. They can be completed independently or in school.
  • Use this range of free Identification Guides by iSpot developed to help with biodiversity surveys. Includes trees, hedgerow plants, lichens, earthworms, dragonflies, amphibians and seaweeds.
